Wellbeing Hub

Early identification of students鈥 struggles is crucial to their education journey

When a child is struggling, the signs are not always obvious. A student who becomes withdrawn, anxious or unable to concentrate may be dealing with stress, trauma or a learning difficulty. Teachers and parents are often the first to notice that something has changed 鈥 but without the right knowledge or support, knowing how to help can be difficult.听

In Lebanon, years of conflict, displacement and economic instability have placed immense pressure on children, families and schools.听

Many children and young people are experiencing anxiety, emotional distress, learning difficulties or other additional needs. Yet specialist support can be difficult to access, and educators often lack the training and practical resources to identify challenges early and respond effectively.听

For children who need extra support, that can make the difference between being included in learning 鈥 or being left behind.

The scale of the challenge is significant.

72% of caregivers

in Lebanon reported that their children were anxious or nervous during the war, while 62% said they were depressed or sad

The Wellbeing Hub

As part of 罢丑别颈谤飞辞谤濒诲鈥檚 Ready to Learn programme, SKILD is developing a free online platform with practical, specialist-led training for educators and caregivers across Lebanon.

The project aims to reach more than 5,000 educators and caregivers, while children in more than 10 schools will also gain access to mental health support.

The videos helped me better understand the challenges my students face and provided simple, effective tools that I could implement right away. As a result, I feel more confident as a teacher, and my students are more actively participating and succeeding in the classroom. SKILD will also pilot Chance for Childhood鈥檚 screening app in Lebanon and share its expertise on inclusive education with other Ready to Learn partners.

The Well-being Hub builds on an approach that is already proving its reach. SKILD鈥檚 existing e-library, previously supported by sa国际传媒, contains more than 200 resources and has reached over four million people across Lebanon and the sa国际传媒.

And 罢丑别颈谤飞辞谤濒诲鈥檚 role goes well beyond funding. Through Ready to Learn, SKILD are supported with programme co-design, project management, monitoring and evaluation mentoring, capacity-building and peer learning 鈥 helping strengthen the model and create opportunities for it to reach more educators, families and children.
